The Locality Teams in Rotherham
Rotherham Council’s has 6 Locality Social Work Teams, which operate on a North, South and Central footprint. The teams are responsible for completing the full range of statutory assessments for adults with physical disabilities and / or sensory needs as well as older people, who have needs for care and support. The teams assess and provide support to people living in both the community or within care home settings and have duties to ensure that carers are assessed and receive support where there are carers’ needs.
The Localities Service, as part of statutory duties, is also responsible for the completion of Safeguarding Adults Enquiries and also offers ongoing social work allocation where people require this due to specific circumstances e.g. where there is complexity with regards to their individual circumstances or there is specific court work to be completed. The Teams also ensure that a day time duty response is available for urgent situations, for those awaiting allocation to a worker or whose worker is not available to ensure that people are responded to promptly.
